Auburn linebacker Wesley Steiner didn’t mince word when asked what quarterback Robby Ashford brings to the table.

“A lot like Bo Nix, Robby is a pain in the butt,” Steiner said Tuesday via Adam Cole of the Opelika-Auburn News. “I’m not gonna lie.”

There are few things more frustrating for a linebacker than a quarterback with some speed and an ability to move the chains on third down. That kind of stuff makes it that more difficult to contain.

And Steiner sees a lot of that from Ashford in practice. He continued the Bo Nix comparisons as well.

“One thing with Bo Nix is once he gets moving, it’s hard to get an angle on him because you don’t expect them to be so fast.,” Steiner said. ““Robby to me, he moves just as quickly. I remember at one practice, I ran right by him and I felt the wind rush past my ears after I rushed by him. So, you know, he’s fast.”

Ashford, an Oregon transfer, didn’t see the field in his time with the Ducks and is one of 3 quarterbacks dueling for the starting job alongside TJ Finley and Texas A&M transfer Zach Calzada.
