Billy Napier has seen Anthony Richardson have an up and down season, and explained on the SEC coaches media teleconference that there are several variables at hand.

“I think it’s a combination of things,” he said. “… Sometimes it’s fundamentals at that position, whether it’s footwork, whether it’s mental relative to his progression and processing what’s going on out there. … Sometimes it’s player around the quarterback. The quarterback gets a lot of the praise and a lot of the criticism. … Certainly a lot contributes to quarterback play. Anthony’s his own worst critic. He continues to improve as a player, not just physically, but mentally.”

After a big game against Utah, Richardson has fallen off.

He’s completed 55% of his passes for 1,638 yards with 7 touchdowns and 7 interceptions, although he hasn’t thrown an interception the last 2 games. He also has 414 rushing yards with 6 touchdowns. LSU was the second 100-yard rushing game of the season for Richardson.
