Mark Richt isn’t telling us anything we don’t already know.

Richt witnessed his best player in running back Todd Gurley put the Bulldogs on his back and lead them to victory today against Tennessee. Gurley took over the second half and finished with 28 carries for a career-high 208 yards and two touchdowns, wowing the crowd with his Heisman Hurdle.

Following the game, Richt said exactly what everyone’s thinking, and he didn’t sugarcoat it. Richt called Gurley the best player in the country.

“Earlier in the year, I said (Todd Gurley) is at least one of the best players in the country,” according to Seth Emerson of the Macon Telegraph. “Now, I’m saying he’s the best player in America. I can’t imagine anyone being more talented, a guy who loves his team more, and a guy who means more to his team than he does to us.”

Who wants to dispute Richt’s claim?

You could make an argument for Todd Gurley or Alabama’s Amari Cooper as the best player in the country in 2014.
