LSU is still working to put together its 2015 recruiting class, but they added another piece on Wednesday with a commitment from junior college safety Jeremy Cutrer. Cutrer reportedly signed his letter of intent on Wednesday.

The three-star safety comes to LSU from JUCO powerhouse Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C. They bring a player back into the fold that had previously been an LSU commit; Cutrer was part of the 2013 class, but academic issues led to him heading to junior college.

At 6-foot-2, 170 lbs., Cutrer has the size to battle with the SEC’s receiving titans, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him add weight as well; none of the safeties on LSU’s roster in 2014 weighed less than 185 lbs.

Cutrer also has the ball skills that will help him fit in with LSU’s ball-hawking Defensive Back U secondary. Cutrer played wide receiver in his first year at MGCCC before moving back to defensive back in 2014. He had 44 tackles, nine pass breakups and an interception this season.

LSU’s recruiting class is currently rated No. 17 by 247sports’ composite rankings, but the Tigers have only 15 signees so far and are chasing several other big-name recruits.
