Alabama breaks Notre Dame's College Football Awards record
Alabama had a big night during Thursday’s College Football Awards. It was a record-breaking night in fact.
With Crimson Tide players winning 7 of 15 awards, UA broke a record previously held by Notre Dame’s 2012 team.

Surtain should have been on this list as well – somehow, as a consensus All-American, he lost out on the Thorpe to a player that didn’t even make any of the 5 major All-American teams.
Yeah, that was puzzlement. A big disappointment, I think that was the only one. Still…
Nah… we missed the Groza too
Surtain was a unanimous All-American. Not consensus. Which makes it even more puzzling.
Yea so. We won the Mackey. So there
He well deserved it.
Richard got screwed even worse than Surtain. How the fu*k does a kicker finish the season perfect on field goals and extra points and lose to some a$$hole who missed some of both? The Lou Groza should have been his.
Reichard would have won but he suffered and lost votes bc (knock on wood) we finish drives and don’t kick as many FGs as Miami who couldn’t finish a drive to save their life. Glad this dude will be back next year we will need him to step up in the title game on Monday I guarantee you.
How does Mac finish 3rd in Heisman behind a QB but Mac wins best QB award?
Happens a lot actually. Happed to McCarron and I think Barker
Not Davey O’Brien but Jonny Unitis.
Dang it Johnny Unitas
2012 Notre Dame…lol
I’ve never thought about it, but a team’s awards are kept on the record books even after the team has all its wins vacated for the season for team violations (academic fraud helping ineligible players stay on the field in this case)?
That’s an interesting approach to things.
Because they are individual awards, that are earned on the field, not team or university awards won elsewhere.
That’s kind of the point, though. If it’s an offensive line award or something similar it absolutely is. And individual awards are only occurring because of performance on a team that had all of the wins vacated because of ineligible players playing on the team.
Hopefully that will fire him up for Monday night. The outcome will be determined by how well out DBs play and our DLine. Roll Tide. Got something to prove Surtain
Landon was hurt on such a weird play too. I feel for the kid and the team. He was a real leader as well as a great player.
