Alabama lands commitment from Lou Groza Award-winning kicker via transfer portal

Alabama has made a significant pickup in the NCAA transfer portal. Lou Groza Award-winning kicker Graham Nicholson is joining the Crimson Tide for the 2024 season.

Nicholson took to social media to announce that he is taking his talents to Tuscaloosa after 3 seasons at Miami (Ohio).
“I want to thank Miami University and everyone involved for believing in me out of high school and welcoming me into a family,” Nicholson wrote in a note posted on his X account. “I want to thank Coach Martin for the trust he has placed in me and for being an unbelievable leader and mentor over the past 3 years.
“I have decided to transfer for my last season and will be finishing my college career at the University of Alabama!!
“I am extremely thankful for this opportunity and excited to help compete and win a national title!!
“Roll Tide!!”

Last season, Nicholson set an NCAA record by making 25 straight field goals. He was 35-of-37 on extra points, finishing the season with 116 points. Nicholson was named first-team All-American by the Walter Camp Award, Sporting News and Associated Press, along with numerous other publications and websites.
Nicholson was also Miami (Ohio)’s kickoff specialist the past 3 seasons. He had 52 touchbacks on 73 kickoffs in the 2023 campaign.
