Alabama’s world has embraced the trap game theme as the Crimson Tide attempt to put the glory of last Saturday night’s win over Georgia in the filing cabinet and focus on a scrappy Vanderbilt team that will be waiting for the Crimson Tide this Saturday in Nashville.

The Commodores are no joke this season. Just ask Missouri, which needed overtime to get past Vandy at home in a Week 4 thriller. Alabama is determined to avoid going down that treacherous path, and so according to multiple reports there are rodent traps out in full force within the halls of the Mal M. Moore Athletic Facility.

“(Josh Chapman) walks in, throws a bunch of rat traps down. ‘It’s a trap game, y’all,'” said Alabama center Parker Brailsford about the source of the traps on Tuesday.

Chapman is a former Alabama star defensive lineman who won a few national titles in Tuscaloosa during the early Nick Saban years, so he knows all about avoiding the pitfalls of a long season in the SEC.

And Saban was famous for telling his players to avoid “rat poison,” which could be positive or negative news about them and the team. He wanted his players to ignore criticism and praise, like the kind they’ve been getting after taking down Georgia last Saturday night.

The trap game awaits in Nashville, and it’ll now be Kalen DeBoer’s challenge to make his team avoid it.
