Kalen DeBoer’s staff is looking to make sure Alabama players move on from the thrilling Week 5 win over Georgia.

Multiple reporters noted that rodent traps are out in the halls of the Mal M. Moore Athletic Facility.

Now ranked No. 1 in the AP Top 25, Alabama will hit the road in Week 6. UA heads to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt Saturday afternoon in Nashville. DeBoer’s staff clearly worries about the matchup being a potential “trap game” if Alabama players are a bit hungover from the joy of the Georgia victory.

Vanderbilt is off to a 2-2 start. Clark Lea’s team turned heads in Week 1, taking down Virginia Tech 34-27 in overtime. The Commodores played overtime again in Week 4, dropping a 30-27 heartbreaker on the road to a top-10 Mizzou squad.

Vandy is on a 10-game SEC losing streak. After back-to-back wins over Kentucky and Florida in November 2022, the Commodores dropped their ’22 season finale to Tennessee. Vanderbilt went 0-8 in SEC play in 2023. The Mizzou loss made it 10 in a row.

Alabama is 60-19-4 all-time against Vanderbilt, and has won the last 12 meetings played over 1994-2022. As expected, the Tide is expected to make it 13 in a row. ESPN’s FPI gives UA a 92.1% chance of winning in Nashville. UA is a 23.5-point favorite at FanDuel Sportsbook.
