Brian Daboll’s credentials speak for themselves. As an assistant with the New England Patriots, he’s won five Super Bowl rings — one for each finger.

Now, he brings his championship pedigree to Tuscaloosa, where he’ll serve as Alabama’s offensive coordinator this fall, replacing Lane Kiffin and Steve Sarkisian.

Though the learning curve for the Crimson Tide offensive players will be steep this spring, Daboll is earning the respect of his new players. According to The Daily Bama Blog, several Crimson Tide stars are on board with what Daboll is doing so far:

“I feel like he’s a really smart guy,” Tide junior receiver Calvin Ridley said two weeks ago. “Obviously, he was with the Patriots and has won a lot of games and Super Bowls, so I respect him.”

For others, like RB Damien Harris, the change was sudden, but trust in coach Nick Saban inspires confidence that Daboll is the right man for the job:

“We didn’t really have a choice but to just kind of accept it,” rising junior running back Damien Harris said Thursday. “You just have to have a positive outlook and be like, ‘Coach Saban wouldn’t put us in any sort of position that wasn’t beneficial for us.’ That’s how we looked at it, that he was only trying to do what was going to help us be the most successful.”

Alabama’s spring game is scheduled for Saturday, April 22, so Daboll still has a few weeks to continue building his offense before it is put on display in live action.
