Alabama infielder Zane Denton has announced he will enter the transfer portal and play elsewhere his senior season, per 247Sports.

Denton had a strong junior campaign, leading the Crimson Tide in home runs and RBI with 13 and 48, respectively. Denton was also third on the team in hits, totaling 61, just behind Drew Williamson and Andrew Pinckney with 65 and 63, respectively.

Denton is immediately eligible to play in 2023, having just made the cutoff of July 1 set for those who intend to transfer playing college baseball without sitting out a year. Denton could make an immediate impact wherever he lands, including potential landing spots like Vanderbilt, Texas A&M and Tennessee.

Any team searching for a veteran third baseman could use Denton’s experience. The 6-foot Brentwood, Tennessee, native earned 2021 SEC All-Defensive Team honors and led the Crimson Tide in batting average at .308 in 2021.

The Crimson Tide missed the NCAA Tournament this year with a final record of 31-27.
