If ever an NIL deal was meant to be, it’s the one that came to fruition Wednesday between Alabama freshman cornerback Ga’Quincy McKinstry and Kool-Aid.
After all, McKinstry has long had the nickname “Kool-Aid” and he’s even listed on the official Alabama roster as Kool-Aid McKinstry.
Adding to the fun, according to On3 reporter Tim Verghese, is that the two parties will be, at least temporarily, swapping names.
According to Kool-Aid’s Twitter account bio, “In honor of our new partnership, we’ve swapped names with Kool-Aid McKinstry and given him the power of OH YEAH.”
McKinstry responded on his Twitter account by adding, “Honored to partner with Kool-Aid the brand. I will be sharing the OH YEAH title with the Kool-Aid man.”
The 6-1, 190-pound McKinstry is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. He was one of the top recruits in the 2021 class, having been tabbed by 247Sports as the No. 1 prospect in Alabama and the No. 23 overall recruit in the nation.
