It would be an incredible recovery, but one that doesn’t seem impossible, according to several people within the Alabama program.
Junior linebacker Terrell Lewis tore his right ACL while training earlier this summer. However, a return this season may not be completely far-fetched.
“With our training staff and his mindset right now, I don’t see him missing the whole season,” Crimson Tide linebacker Anfernee Jennings said at SEC Media Days last month.
“With Terrell, he’s battling his butt off to get back, just like last season,” Alabama defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi said at fall camp on Saturday, according to AL.com’s Matt Zenitz. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he surprises you as far as what time he is back for us.”
If Lewis could return this season and play at full strength, it could certainly provide a boost to the Tide’s defense.
Lewis has 27 tackles over the past two seasons, but he was poised to have a potential breakout year before sustaining the injury earlier in the summer.
