Blake Anderson’s Utah State team didn’t stand a chance against Alabama Saturday night. The Crimson Tide torched the Aggies 55-0 in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Bryce Young threw for 195 yards and 5 touchdowns, while adding 100 yards rushing and a touchdown. Alabama rolled up 559 total yards of total offense; however, the defense was just as good. The Aggies only mounted 136 total yards, including just 79 on the ground. The Tide were suffocating all night long.

It was a dominant win, and Alabama was nearly perfect.

Blake Anderson spoke to the media following the Aggies loss to the Crimson Tide, and below is everything he said about Alabama. Anderson called Alabama “the best team he’s ever seen in pads,” among the many other compliments.

Opening Statement

“Yeah, just not the game we obviously wanted. We knew it was possible. We’ve seen people come down here and have the same kind of night, but I think we got out healthy, which is a plus. We’re going to learn some things off of film that is going to help us get better moving forward.

“But I was very very clear with the media and our team all week. This is the best team I’ve seen in pads in my career in 30 years of coaching, and they played like it tonight. They didn’t make a lot of mistakes. Ultimately, we just got out-athleted.”

On the mistakes his team made that helped lead to the early blowout

“In some instances, we were right where we wanted to be, we just couldn’t make the plays. We got out-athleted. I mean, that’s the best group of players I’ve ever seen on the field, and some areas you can be right where you’re supposed to be and not make the play.

“So, I don’t want to point fingers anywhere. We physically got out-matched most of the night. I’m sure we made some mistakes, but they weren’t glaring. … We got beat by a better football with a lot of great athletes.”

On Bryce Young

“I’ll be honest with you. He played exactly the way I anticipated him to play. He won the Heisman Trophy for a reason. He’s an NFL quarterback that played poised, moved when he needed to. He checked the ball down more tonight than probably we saw him check the ball down in any game based on.

“He’s a smart guy who’s not going to force the ball. Everybody I saw all night was as-advertised. They’re as good as I thought. We didn’t sugar-coat this coming in at all. I was brutally honest with our team about what to expect physically.”
