At the end of the 2016 season, Alabama WR Robert Foster was openly considering finishing his college football career elsewhere.

He didn’t, and he is now in line for a starting spot in his final season at UA.

At Alabama’s media day, he explained didn’t want to be labeled a quitter by transferring.

“One thing I never want to do is quit,” Foster told AL.com at Alabama media day. “I want to be a leader, not just for my team and not just for my receivers or any of the offense. One thing I’ve noticed is quitting won’t get you nowhere in life, so I hope my mentality will help everyone, the young kids and (everyone) in general.”

Foster, a former 5-star recruit rated No. 23 overall and No. 2 wide receiver for the 2013 class, has been considered a breakout candidate before. So far, however, he’s only recorded 21 catches for 205 yards and two touchdowns in his injury-filled college career.

Impressive showings in spring practice and fall camp may finally land him that starting spot, however, as Alabama needs a vertical threat in the passing game. Foster’s decision to stay at Alabama could pay dividends for him and the Tide this season.
