Dan Enos discusses leaving Alabama for Miami OC job
Miami made one of the most surprising hires of the college football season landing Dan Enos as offensive coordinator. The departing Alabama quarterbacks coach was thought to be the next Crimson Tide play-caller, replacing Mike Locksley, who left to become Maryland’s head coach.
Enos confirmed to Arkansas radio host Bo Mattingly on Friday that he was likely to become the next UA offensive coordinator.
Enos on if he was in line to be the OC at Alabama before taking the Miami job: Nothing had been finalized. It seemed things were certainly headed down that path. … Certainly this wasn’t an easy decision. When you have a family, you weigh all the pros and cons.

Without offering many details, Enos said that the position with the Hurricanes was simply an opportunity he could not pass up.
Enos: After the season we had, there was a lot of interest generated in the coaches on our staff (at Alabama). When this Miami job came up, it was an opportunity me and my family didn’t want to pass up.

In the audio clip below, he describes “feeling a strong pull” to the UM job:

Enos might not be in Miami for the long haul. He left his job as the head coach of Central Michigan after the 2014 season to be the Arkansas offensive coordinator. He hopes to be a head coach again.
Enos: I would love to be a head coach again. It’d have to be the right situation. I love running an offense. I love calling plays.

If he does land another head coaching job, one would expect him to apply some of what he learned during his season with Nick Saban.
Enos on what he learned from Nick Saban: The detail, organization, motivation. The guy is brilliant. He’s the hardest-working human being I’ve ever been around. A highly intelligent guy with a great work ethic. He never allows complacency to creep in.
