Down goes Alabama: Fans, media react to rare Alabama loss, recall Jimbo Fisher's offseason comment
Alabama played in front of the second-largest crowd in the history of Kyle Field and a last-second field goal lifted Texas A&M to a 41-38 victory on Saturday night. It caused more than 100,000 fans to rush the field in celebration.
It ended a 19-game winning streak that dated back to the 2019 Iron Bowl, and was Alabama’s first loss to an unranked team since the Louisiana-Monroe game in 2007.
Plenty of people recalled Jimbo Fisher’s comment from the offseason when he said Texas A&M would beat Alabama while Nick Saban is still there.
Here’s a sampling of the reaction from fans and media:
Cosell voice: Down goes Bama. DOWN. GOES. BAMA.

Jimbo first former Saban assistant to beat the teacher. Bama routine dropped pass leads to Aggies’ drive for game-winning FG at gun.

“We’re going to beat his ass even when he’s there. Don’t worry.” Jimbo Fisher becomes the first former assistant to beat Nick Saban in 25 tries. Quite an effort by the Aggies tonight.

Give the CBS cameraman who found Johnny Football in the midst of that field rush a raise.

AGGIES DID IT! Thought that would hook left but faded in perfectly. Nick Saban loses to an unranked opponent, although a very capable one tonight.
Lifetime contract for Jimbo.
