Nick Saban is touring ESPN Wednesday for the Coaches’ Car Wash. You’ll be hearing him throughout the day.

Saban’s first stop was ESPN Radio’s Mike & Mike. The duo and Saban discussed the important topics like fly fishing, Florida State, massive expectations and Jalen Hurts, and after the interview was over, Mike Greenberg paid Nick Saban the ultimate compliment.

“Nick Saban is the best coach in college football history, and Alabama is the greatest program in college football history,” Greenberg said.

It doesn’t get any better than that.

All the active coaches in college football combine for 10 total national championships. Nick Saban has won five of those. Urban Meyer’s three and Jimbo Fisher’s and Dabo Swinney’s one respectively make up the other five.

Saban and Bear Bryant are often debated, but I agree with Greenberg. What Saban is doing in college football in an era of parity with every program having national exposure is unprecedented. And he keeps doing it. He keeps winning championships; he keeps signing the No. 1 recruiting class, and he keeps putting players in the NFL.

Below are the topics Saban discussed on Mike & Mike:

Saban on Jalen Hurts
“I think the goal in the offseason for Jalen was becoming a more efficient, consistent and effective passer. We were a little risk-averse and hesitant a year ago in development and what we asked him to do in that role. He certainly did a fantastic job for us and made a lot of play in a lot of ways, but that’s the one thing we’ve (tried to do) this offseason, try to create a little more balance and efficiency in the passing game.”

Saban on playing Florida State
“First of all, they have a great program and a great team and Jimbo’s done a fantastic job there. It’s every bit the challenge you say it is. I think affects your offseason. Players are more focused and understand the challenge of the first game. I think it helps your fall camp in terms of preparation. We’ll find out very quickly where we are as a team because we’re playing against very good competition. I think it’ll prepare us very well for some of the tough games we have in our conference as well.”
