Henry Ruggs III was involved in a fatal crash earlier this week, and details are beginning to emerge about the incident involving the former Alabama wide receiver who was released by the Las Vegas Raiders after the incident.

Ruggs III, 22, was traveling 156 mph before a crash that killed a woman and her dog, KLAS, a CBS affiliate in Las Vegas reported.

The fiery crash involved two cars; a Toyota Rav4 and a Chevrolet Corvette, which Ruggs was driving, police said.

In court on Wednesday morning, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that prosecutor Eric Bauman said Ruggs was traveling at 156 mph about 2 seconds before the crash. He was at 127 mph when airbags deployed.

Here is Ruggs’ mugshot from KLAS.

Ruggs’ blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit, and a loaded gun was found in the car, Bauman said.

Ruggs’ attorneys released a statement.

“On behalf of our client Henry Ruggs III, we are conducting our own investigation as of this writing and ask everyone to reserve judgement until all the facts are gathered,” Ruggs’ attorneys David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld said in a statement Tuesday.
