The first Alabama wide receiver off of the board during the 2020 NFL Draft now has a rookie contract.

The Oakland Raiders struck a deal with Henry Ruggs III, who was selected with the No. 12 overall pick. Ruggs agreed to a 4-year, $16.67 million deal with a 5th-year option, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

While Ruggs put up some crooked numbers at Alabama in Nick Saban’s offense, his 4.27-second 40-yard dash certainly didn’t hurt. Ruggs flashed his ridiculous athleticism at the NFL Combine, and he continued jumping up NFL Draft boards. We all know how the Raiders love fast, flashy receivers, and Ruggs fit that bill perfectly. Surprisingly, Ruggs was selected before his former Alabama teammate Jerry Jeudy, who went No. 15 overall to the Denver Broncos.

Earlier this offseason, Ruggs was injured when he got pinned between a trailer and a car while helping a friend move. He got stitches in his thigh, but thankfully, he suffered no muscular damage.

No doubt Ruggs will make Oakland faster and more explosive on offense.
