Henry Ruggs III is having an incredible start to his college football career.

The freshman receiver for the Alabama Crimson Tide has five catches through the first eight games, but it is his efficiency that is remarkable. Each of Ruggs’ catches have gone for a touchdown, including a career-long 60-yard score against Tennessee.

Altogether, Ruggs has five catches for 112 yards and 5 TDs. He is a legitimate deep threat with touchdowns of 16, 20, and 60 yards on the year. The five receiving touchdowns are tops on Alabama this season.

It is a remarkable 5 for 5 accomplishment for Ruggs, and Matt Zenitz with AL.com says the Tide have given Ruggs the nickname “Touchdown City” for his hot streak. Alabama OL Ross Pierschbacher said he couldn’t believe the streak when he was told the stat:

“When he caught that, someone said that (stat) on the sidelines and I didn’t really believe them,” left guard Ross Pierschbacher said. “I didn’t notice that he’d done that. It’s pretty incredible for a young guy to have success like that. And just happy for him. And happy for our offense, too.”

Ruggs has also proven to be a valuable asset for the Tide in the return game. He has eight punt returns for 56 yards and eight kickoff returns for 155 yards.
