Nate Oats and the Alabama Crimson Tide are currently 6-2 on the season, and currently ranked as the No. 10 team in the country. They lost their last game to Oregon, and they suffered a season-ending injury as Latrell Wrightsell Jr. sustained an Achilles injury.
Oats confirmed the injury on Tuesday and said there is a possibility that he may try and redshirt.
“He did rupture his Achilles tendon, so he’s out for the year,” Oats said, adding that Wrightsell will have surgery Wednesday. “It’s obviously not a quick recovery from an Achilles, but they’re confident that — Dr. Norman Waldrop is going to do the surgery, and he’ll be able to get back to a high level of basketball after his recovery.”
Oats said Alabama is looking at a medical redshirt for Latrell Wrightsell, Jr. He could be eligible because he played less than 30% of the season. But Oats also noted he's a college graduate, so his next steps in basketball are still to be determined. https://t.co/RaLLRwSJiU

Because he has played in only 8 games this year, there is still a chance that he could redshirt because he will play in less than 30% of his team’s games. He started his collegiate career at Cal State Fullerton, where he played 3 seasons before playing last year at Alabama.
Wrightsell has been a key player for the Crimson Tide at the start of the year, as he is averaging 11.5 PPG on 42.2% from the 3-point line. The schedule doesn’t get any easier for Alabama, as North Carolina is up next on the schedule.
