Nate Oats gave an update on the injury status of Nick Pringle and Latrell Wrightsell Jr. on Friday ahead of the Crimson Tide’s Elite Eight bout with Clemson.

Oats revealed that Pringle is suffering from a heel bruise that was aggravated in the win over North Carolina on Thursday night. Oats didn’t have any insight as to whether the injury will keep Pringle from playing against the Tigers.

For Wrightsell, he’s been out with a head injury ever since the second-round win over Grand Canyon. The Alabama guard was considered questionable for the UNC game, but ultimately was unable to go. Oats listed Wrightsell as day-to-day ahead of Saturday’s game in Los Angeles against Clemson.

Pringle has given the Crimson Tide some height in backcourt at 6-foot-10 this season and currently averages 6.7 points per game. He was limited to 20 minutes against UNC as he dealt with that heel injury.

Wrightsell has averaged 9 points per game and been a reliable option from long range. The Cal State Fullerton transfer was 3rd on the team in 3-point percentage at 44.3% before the injury. This wasn’t the transfer’s 1st time this season missing time due to a head injury as he previously missed 4 games from Feb. 21 through March 2 with a head injury.

Even with the status of Wrightsell and Pringle up in the air for the big game, Alabama is still favored by 2.5 points per ESPN Bet. Fans who are interested in betting on this game can sign up with one of Saturday Down South’s recommended sports betting apps.

Mark Sears and Grant Nelson have been able to lead the way in scoring even with Alabama’s mounting injuries. Nelson came alive against North Carolina with 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Sears has scored at least 18 points or more in the last 2 games.

If Pringle is unable to play, Alabama could have a hard time containing Clemson’s big men. Both PJ Hall and Chauncey Wiggins come in at 6-foot-10 for the Tigers. Ian Schieffelin is no slouch either at 6-foot-8, 225 pounds.

Tipoff for Saturday’s game will be at 8:49 p.m. ET on TBS. It is just the 2nd time that Alabama has reached the Elite Eight in program history. The last time the Crimson Tide did that was back in 2004 under Mark Gottfried.
