After landing the second-highest-paid contract ever given to a cornerback in NFL history, Marlon Humphrey had to credit the people that did the most to get him where he is today.

The biggest shoutout went to his father, former NFL running back Bobby Humphrey.

“Growing up in my house, anytime I needed some to lean on, I had an older brother, older sister, and a mom and a dad that have always kept me really good aligned,” the Raven defensive back shared during a recent press conference.

When discussing the impact his father made on his life, that’s when Humphrey started to get emotional.

“My dad’s kept me in line,” Humphrey said. “Since I was young, I told my dad I wanted to play in the NFL and he never really let me slip. He’s been my everything for me along with my mom.”

Humphrey’s comments came during a recent press conference after the Ravens agreed to pay the standout NFL defensive back $98.75 million with a new five-year contract extension, as reported by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Humphrey was named All-Pro last season and is in the conversation for the best defensive back playing right now in the NFL.

The former Crimson Tide defender played two seasons in Tuscaloosa before moving on to the league. During his college career, Humphrey had 81 tackles, five interceptions and defended 13 passes for Alabama.
