Nick Saban has seen plenty of coaches come in go during his time in the SEC.

This week, Saban saw 2 more coaches exit as Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher and Mississippi State’s Zach Arnett were fired. While he knows that college football is business, seeing his fellow coaches get fired is never easy.

“I get to meet a lot of coaches. I go to SEC Media Day and we go to SEC meetings, there’s a lot of new guys in the room,” Saban said during the SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday. “I enjoy developing relationships with all of them. I hate to see anybody — I know how hard guys work to try to develop and build a program and how difficult it can be sometimes to try to get everybody on board to try to do things you need to do to do that.”

Fisher’s tenure at Texas A&M lasted nearly 6 seasons, while Arnett spent just a season at Mississippi State. Now, Saban will get the chance to meet and develop relationships with 2 new coaches. It’s obviously intimidating having one of the greatest coaches of all time in your conference, but Saban has been supportive for all of the new coaches that come into the SEC.

“You need the support of a lot of people to be able to do it,” Saban said. “Obviously it’s too bad when those things don’t work out and people can’t stay together to try to build something positive.”

Saban is looking to hold steady in the final 2 games of the season, starting with a matchup against Chattanooga this week before closing out the season against Auburn. The Tide will then get a date with Georgia in the SEC Championship as they hope to carve a path to the College Football Playoff.
