Alabama controls its destiny in the SEC West, but the Crimson Tide’s outlook drastically changed after the Week 6 loss to Texas A&M.
On his Thursday night radio show, Nick Saban went as far as to say that UA is no longer “viewed as an elite team,” per Charlie Potter of 247Sports.
Saban: “I feel like, in a lot of ways, (after) this past game, we’re no longer viewed as an elite team. So what I’m hopeful of is that our players are gonna respond in way that they go out and play with more consistency. I hope everybody supports them in a positive way.”

Alabama has 6 games remaining on its regular-season schedule, including 5 against SEC opponents. No. 17 Arkansas is the only ranked opponent remaining. No. 1 Georgia, however, currently leads the SEC East. A trip to the SEC Championship Game would give Nick Saban’s squad the opportunity to establish itself as “elite” again.
