Nick Saban says Alabama WRs stepping up with John Metchie out
Alabama will be missing a key contributor as it tries to win 2 more games and secure another national title. John Metchie III, the Crimson Tide’s leading pass-catcher, injured his ACL in UA’s win over Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.
Metchie is a significant loss, but the Alabama roster is stacked with talented depth. During a Monday press conference, Saban told reporters that he has seen numerous wide receivers step up in practice with Metchie out for the College Football Playoff.
Saban on WRs: “I think the guys are stepping up and doing a good job.”
Mentioned Javon Baker, Traeshon Holden and Ja’Corey Brooks.
Also, “Agiye Hall is making some good plays.”

Saban’s mention of Agiye Hall will be well-received by the Tide faithful. Hall, a top-50 class of 2021 recruit, vented frustration this season on social media, appearing to hint at transferring elsewhere. The freshman wide receiver impressed during Alabama’s spring game.
