While Paul Finebaum has said that Alabama will have one of the best defenses it’s had in several years this season, the question remains at quarterback and Bryce Young. Can Young deliver the championship success similar to his predecessors like Mac Jones and Tua Tagovailoa?

Young has not faced any sort of pressure, and will get somewhat of a test in the opener in Atlanta against Miami.

Along that line, Finebaum was asked on ESPN’s “First Take” who he thinks is the greatest threat to Alabama among the top teams in the country. The group in the top 5 of the coaches poll is Clemson, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Georgia.

“I’ll split it a little bit, I think Oklahoma has a really good shot at getting to the Playoffs,” Finebaum said. “Because the schedule is not that challenging. And they also have one of the 2 or 3 best quarterbacks in the country in Spencer Rattler. However, I think the biggest threat is in the SEC, and that is Georgia. After the first weekend of the season, Max, we’re going to be talking about Georgia as a legitimate threat because I think they’re going to beat Clemson, which I think is good, but maybe not as good as it’s been in a couple of years. We all know Trevor Lawrence is gone, I don’t think the defense is as elite.”

If Georgia takes care of Clemson, Finebaum believes we’ll be talking about the SEC Championship game the second week of September.
