For football video game fans, it’s almost “Madden” season.

EA Sports recently released player ratings for the upcoming “Madden NFL 21” game. ESPN’s SportsCenter Twitter account compiled the top 10 safeties in the game and shared it this week. The absence of former Alabama standout Minkah Fitzpatrick got the attention of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ official account.

“Delete this. You forgot Minkah,” the account posted, quote-tweeting the “SportsCenter” post.

Fellow Steelers defensive back Joe Haden also tweeted that Fitzpatrick is one of the league’s top safeties.

“If @minkfitz_21 isn’t on your top safeties your football card should be taking immediately!!!! Do you watch tape?” Haden tweeted.

Fitzpatrick, who was traded to Pittsburgh by the Miami Dolphins last season. After being played at various positions by the Dolphins, Fitzpatrick appeared to thrive in the free safety role with the Steelers. In 14 starts with the Steelers, Fitzpatrick posted 57 tackles, 5 interceptions, 9 passes defended and a forced fumble. His Steelers statline alone appears worthy of top-10 safety recognition. Fitzpatrick also logged 12 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 2 games with the Dolphins before the trade.

Perhaps the “Madden” ranking will serve as motivation as the former first-round draft pick enters Year 3 of his NFL career.
