Yesterday, it was reported that former Louisville, Texas and USF head coach (and former Florida defensive coordinator) Charlie Strong was in Tuscloosa visiting the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Now, it seems talks between Strong and the Tide have gotten serious.
Per FootballScoop.com, Strong is expected to reach an agreement with the Tide to join Nick Saban’s staff:
Source tells FootballScoop after fielding a number of offers from various SEC programs, Charlie Strong appears to have selected Alabama as his next stop. We hear an agreement could be in place soon. Stay tuned…
Saban, of course, has a history of helping former head coaches rehabilitate their images after being let go from other jobs. It has taken place with Lane Kiffin, Mike Locksley, Steve Sarkisian and others over the years.
What role Strong would have on Alabama’s staff remains to be seen.
