Report: Former 5-star Alabama defender enters NCAA transfer portal
During the 2018 recruiting cycle, 5-star DE Eyabi Anoma was a huge part of Alabama’s elite class, as he was the No. 1 weak-side defensive end and the No. 4 player in the country, per the 247Sports composite.
However, he didn’t get much playing time as a freshman, appearing in just six game and recording only nine total tackles.
Now, it appears he’ll seek out playing time elsewhere. As you can see below, AL.com’s Matt Zenitz reported on Tuesday afternoon that Anoma had entered the NCAA transfer portal:
Alabama outside linebacker Eyabi Anoma, a five-star member of the Tide's 2018 signing class, has entered the NCAA transfer portal, per source https://t.co/1dyDuKijYR

This doesn’t mean Anoma is leaving, per se, but now other teams are able to contact him about transferring from Alabama.
As only a freshman, he’ll have to sit out a year if he goes to another FBS program, per NCAA transfer rules. He has yet to pick a new school, though.
