Tough news to report this evening.

Former Alabama and Texas A&M coach Gene Stallings suffered a “serious” heart attack last Friday night, according to a report by Rick Karle of WBRC news out of Birmingham.

Karle reports that Stallings is currently on a ventilator.

Stallings has suffered two strokes recently, but this isn’t good news.

Here’s Karle’s Facebook post:

Please pray for Coach Gene Stallings! Coach had a serious heart attack last Friday night and has since been transferred from a Paris, Texas Hospital to a Dallas-area hospital.
Doctors are optimistic today as they hope to wean the coach from his ventilator. Coach has been hanging tough through two strokes and now this. Coach Stallings’ wife Ruth Ann and family members are with him at this hour. Watch this space for updates. Please keep the coach in your heart!

Stallings coached at Alabama from 1990-1996, winning the 1992 national championship. He previously played at Texas A&M from 1954-1956, and he returned to be the head coach from 1965-1971.
