One of Steve Sarkisian’s first moves as new coach at Texas is filling out his coaching staff, and an Alabama assistant may be going to Austin with him.

Holmon Wiggins, who is in his second year as Alabama’s wide receivers coach after a few seasons working under Justin Fuente at Virginia Tech and Memphis, is being targeted by Sarkisian to join his Longhorns offensive staff, Football Scoop reported.

Wiggins leads a position that has been integral to Alabama’s success this season fueled by the likes of Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith. That has helped QB Mac Jones become a Heisman Trophy finalist, while he’s completed 77 percent of his passes heading into the national title game.

Wiggins came to Tuscaloosa after three years (2015-18) coaching wide receivers at Virginia Tech under Fuente. He also worked for Fuente at Memphis for four seasons (2012-15).

Before Memphis, Wiggins coached running backs at Tulsa and Illinois State.

According to his Alabama bio, Wiggins began his coaching career at his alma mater, the University of New Mexico. He was a three-year starter at running back, finishing his career with 1,833 rushing years while setting the Lobos’ single-season record for punt returns (46) and punt return yards (392). He is a 2003 graduate of the University of New Mexico.
