We all know quarterbacks get pushed to the top of NFL Draft boards on an annual basis but the way most talent evaluators view the headliners for the 2019 NFL Draft, there are only a select few truly elite players on the board for NFL teams to select on Thursday night.

According to longtime ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay, there are only two such players heading into the 2019 NFL Draft — Alabama’s Quinnen Williams and Ohio State’s Nick Bosa.

Why is McShay so high on the star lineman from Tuscaloosa? He explained on Wednesday during a special NFL Draft edition of SEC Now on the SEC Network.

“He took his game to another level this year,” McShay said on the show. “I remember last summer just watching tape of that defensive front, watching Mack Wilson and Raekwon Davis, Isaiah Buggs and all those other guys, every once in a while he would pop up but he wasn’t dominant. Then he had a game against Missouri and I started studying the tape from early in the season — he was the best defensive lineman, maybe the best defensive player, in all of the country.

“He kind of figured it out after that first year of playing time as a redshirt sophomore, being the No. 1 guy at defensive tackle, knowing that it was his time to be the No. 1 guy. Became better with his hands, stronger in his lower body and the combination of quickness and power is really unique with Quinnen Williams.”

The way McShay sees it, if Arizona wants to take the best overall player in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Cardinals would be wise to look passed Kyler Murray and select one of the two defensive linemen at the top of most draft boards.

“I think Quinnen is going to be an absolute star. I think there are two blue-chip, elite players in this draft. One of them Nick Bosa and the other is Williams,” McShay concluded.
