Arizona State coaching search: Former ASU players reportedly support hiring SEC assistant
The rumor mill is heating up regarding the Arizona State coaching search.
Dennis Dodd of CBS reports that he is “hearing support from some former ASU football players” for current Arkansas TE Coach Dowell Loggains.
Hearing support from some former @ASUFootball players now in the NFL for @RazorbackFB tight ends coach Dowell Liggins. 42-year old veteran NFL offensive coordinator (4 teams).

Arkansas-native Loggains had been in the NFL as either a QB coach or offensive coordinator from 2010-2020. Loggains joined Sam Pittman’s Arkansas staff as the TE coach in 2021. It is worth noting that Loggains has never held a head coaching position.
Herm Edwards, former Sun Devil coach, had also never been a head coach in the college ranks before taking the Arizona State job. Nonetheless, it seems that Loggains has former players in his corner, after spending a decade in the NFL.
Loggains has helped Arkansas receiver Trey Knox successfully transition to the tight end position full-time. Pittman will surely miss having Loggains on the staff if this does end up being more than a rumor.
