Arkansas fans were primed and ready Saturday night for a big game against an old Southwest Conference rival.

And after their beloved Razorbacks polished off an impressive 40-21 win over the then 15th-ranked Texas Longhorns, many among the sellout crowd took their celebration to the field.

On Monday, the SEC responded to the crowd’s action by fining Arkansas $100,000.

It’s a good bet that the Razorbacks, who are hoping to move up the SEC ranks in the coming years under second-year coach Sam Pittman, would have gladly traded the money for the victory beforehand.

The win moved Arkansas into Sunday’s AP poll at No. 20, and the Razorbacks will look to improve to 3-0 on the season at home Saturday against Georgia Southern.
