Arkansas paid homage to a former Razorback running back Saturday night.

A week out from Arkansas’ season opener, Razorback Stadium was lit up red in honor of Alex Collins, who died tragically in a motorcycle accident earlier this month. Saturday would have been Collins’ 29th birthday.

Collins played at Arkansas from 2013 to 2015, picking up 3,703 yards and 36 touchdowns on his career. He was a Doak Walker Award semifinalist his junior year and landed on several All-American teams.

Collins had a great impact on the Arkansas community and is remembered for the energy he brought on and off the field every day.

He went on to play 5 seasons in the NFL for the Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens, recording nearly 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns on his career.

Arkansas will be playing with Collins’ in their hearts this season. The Razorbacks begin their season Sept. 2 against Western Carolina and are looking to bounce back from a mediocre 7-6 season.
