Times may have never been bleaker at Arkansas under Bret Bielema than they are right now. The Razorbacks sit at 2-5 on the season and appear poised to miss a bowl game for the first time since Bielema’s debut season in 2013.

If the Razorbacks can’t get a win against Ole Miss, who will be without Shea Patterson for the rest of the season, a league win may not be coming this season.

The Arkansas coach previewed the Ole Miss game during Wednesday’s SEC Teleconference. Here’s a summary of what he said during the call:

  • How do you fix the issues you’ve had so far this season? “If I had that answer I would have done it 6 or 7 games ago. We are doing different things… It’s about playing for 60 minutes. We just haven’t been able to get those juices going in the second half. We are doing everything we can.”
  • On the running game vs. Ole Miss? “Chase Hayden had been a big part of what we are doing. David and Devwah will have an increase in touches. TJ Hammonds will move back to the backfield. We have to do a better job on the perimeter.”
  • How is Austin Allen doing? “He actually threw yesterday, he has had no regression. Yesterday was his biggest workload since the injury. He is moving along, no setbacks. He wants to go back out there.”
  • His status? “Highly questionable would be the box I would check. He can get out there but the question is whether he can make all the throws out there.”
