On a Monday, coming off a 3-34 loss to division rival Auburn, Arkansas coach Chad Morris sounded positive.

“Offensively, I thought we competed, we fought. Was much improved at all areas,” Morris told reporters.

The first-year coach praised his defense, too.

“Defensively, it was our most complete game,” Morris said.

Then he got to special teams.

“Special teams, very disappointed. And the amount of emphasis we put on special teams around here… Unacceptable.”

The special teams units, which allowed a kickoff return for a touchdown, a 48-yard punt return and a Hogs punt to be blocked, seemed to be the weakest link in the blowout.

Morris said it’s not for lack of attention in practice.

“We put a lot of emphasis on special teams each and every week,” Morris told reporters. “I am involved. We’ll have a meeting with me and the entire staff and [quality control for special teams] Tanner (Burns) on Monday nights. We’ll go through the entire game plan.”

Arkansas will hope to get its special teams issues fixed as the Razorbacks for a rivalry showdown with Texas A&M at Noon ET Saturday in Dallas.
