Former Arkansas QB Ty Storey learns fate in WKU QB race
Ty Storey is in for a different role than he envisioned when he transferred to Western Kentucky.
The former Arkansas QB learned this week that he lost the starting quarterback job to Steven Duncan, coach Tyson Helton told reporters, including Tyler Mansfield and Elliott Pratt. Helton, the former Tennessee offensive coordinator, said both QBs will play, and he’s open to extending the competition.
Storey, a graduate transfer from Arkansas, played in 10 games for the Razorbacks in 2018, and started nine. He collected 1,584 yards through the air on 143-of-250 passing, threw 11 touchdowns, but also had 10 interceptions. He completed 57 percent of his passes last season.
Interestingly enough, the Hilltoppers open with Central Arkansas on Aug. 29.
Tyson Helton has named Steven Duncan Western Kentucky’s starting quarterback.

Steven Duncan will be Western Kentucky’s starting QB against Central Arkansas, but Ty Storey will play. Helton is open to use both.

Helton: “I thought him and Ty Storey were pretty even to be honest with you. My first instinct was to run Steven out there. Ty will play — he’ll have a role. It’s gonna be competition every single day.”
