Gene Chizik calls out those judging Chad Morris based on overall record at SMU

Gene Chizik had some strong words for those who have judged Chad Morris as a coach based solely on his record at SMU.
Morris arrives at Arkansas following a three-year stay as head coach at SMU. Prior to that, Morris served as OC at Clemson.
It is true that Morris did have a 14-22 overall record at SMU, but that record alone doesn’t tell the full story. Morris took over a team that had gone 1-11 in 2014. The team only managed two wins in his first season but gradually made strides. They won 5 games last season before winning seven games and earning a bowl in 2017.
With that in mind, Chizik took to Twitter and urged those doubting the hire to “do your homework.” He labeled Morris as a stud and believes his hiring at Arkansas is one of the best this offseason.
For those of you doubting the Chad Morris hire, do your homework. You obviously haven’t seen his teams play. He is a stud. Can’t judge the hire by his record alone. When he inherited SMU, it was a dumpster fire. One of the best hires of the offseason. @RazorbackFB @SECNetwork

Turning around an Arkansas program that went 4-8 in 2017 is a different type of challenge, but fans would be best served to watch how Morris’ tenure plays out. He could do special things with the Razorbacks.
