Arkansas AD defends Jalen Catalon following targeting call, hopes to change upcoming suspension for DB
Credit Hunter Yurachek for sticking up for Jalen Catalon and the Arkansas football team.
If you somehow missed it, the Razorbacks’ best defensive back was called for targeting against LSU on Saturday during the Tigers’ game-winning drive.
The play was reviewed and the officials on the field confirmed the original call. LSU went on to score a touchdown on the drive and won the game by a score of 27-24.
Because the hit occurred in the fourth quarter, not only was Catalon ejected from the game, he is currently slated to be suspended for the first half of the upcoming Missouri game next weekend.
That may be the case at the moment but Yurachek said after the game he will fight to change the suspension.
“I cannot change the outcome or any of the other missed calls, but I will work with the appropriate SEC Officials to make sure that this ‘targeting’ call does not cost Jalen Catalon our next game. My student-athletes deserve better,” Yuracheck tweeted after the game.
It’s pretty rare to see an administrator call out the officials after a game but this comment is on a whole other level from the Arkansas AD.
Here is the hit that resulted in Catalon being called for targeting:

Another blown call by the SEC officials. Watch the commish back the blunder yet again.
Good to see yall got a AD with a set of nuggets that hang plumb down to his ankles. I got a feelin he’s gonna give them SEC dumbficials the woodshed treatmant.
If’n they done a call like this on my beloved AladamBama, I’d take that whole crew out behind the woodshed yank down their britches and give em a good ol Tuscaloosa cornholing.
I can’t tell if cornholing is a type of punishment or something sexual.
Either way, it seems dirty.
OOOHHHHH its dirty all right.
“My student athlete?” In the first place he is a football player. In the second place you don’t own him. He is not yours.
Easy there honcho. HY us just defending an athlete in his program. He’s not being derogatory…if anything his actions are endearing. Arkansas has been hosed by the refs this year. If this is targeting, we might as well start playing flag football.
Well, spoken like a true over reacting liberal who reads only to find something to be offended by. You need to get a grip and quit watching CNN so much maybe.
Lol
Don’t waste money on billboards. They don’t work. I’m not sure there is a way to get this overturned. I don’t remember if LSU had any actual recourse or if people were just whining.
LOL, yeah, skip the billboards.
I said it elsewhere…you guys need to face up to the fact that Greg Spankey is behind this crap, its just becoming too obvious. You are his whipping boy and his goal is clear..he thinks he will strengthen the conference by running off some folks. He wants you to leave and its obvious. On the fumble, you can clearly see a red jersey fall on the ball. The targeting hit? There isnt a crew anywhere that could make that call, then affirm it, with a clear honest conscience.
Utter nonsense.
Clean hit.
Wow, what a lame call. Clean hit
My son lives in Arkansas and he’s just sick about the calls. Ask me what it looks like. Looks to me like Greg Spankey is working on a way to “encourage’ Arkansas to switch conferences so he can replace them with someone like Oklahoma or Texas for example. If the conference wont boot out Vanderbilt, they wont boot Arkansas so he’s got to figure out a way to make it Arkansas’ decision. If he succeeds, watch out Missouri.
