Arkansas is filling out its 2017 schedule according to a new report.
Ryan Young of Myrtle Beach, S.C. newspaper The Sun News is reporting that the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will play Arkansas on Nov. 7, 2017.
Young spoke to Coastal Carolina athletics director Matt Hogue about the game:
“They were in a situation where they were still looking for ’17,” Hogue said. “We were still looking for what game would be our guarantee game, and our goal obviously is to maximize revenue and they were in a position to do that so that’s where we decided to go.”
Arkansas will be paying the Chanticleers $1.5 million for the game, the highest payment Coastal Carolina has received in school history.
Coastal Carolina, based eight miles west of Myrtle Beach in Conway, S.C., began as an FCS football program in 2013. In 2017, however, the Chanticleers will join the FBS ranks as a member of the Sun Belt Conference.
The Razorbacks will also play TCU in 2017, but that date has not been announced.
