When a walk-on defender makes three interceptions, he becomes an instant fan favorite. And then to receive a scholarship in the same week? Well, that just puts it over the top.

That’s what Hudson Clark experienced in the last couple of days as he made three picks against Ole Miss in Arkansas’ victory on Saturday. After the game, coach Sam Pittman was asked if people had heard of Clark.

“Well, they’ve heard of him now,” Pittman said after Arkansas’ 33-21 victory over Ole Miss on Saturday. “Three times at least.”

Pittman was a guest on Monday’s “SEC This Morning” with Peter Burns and Chris Doering when he announced that Clark would be put on scholarship.

“I called Hudson Clark last evening, asked him to come see me,” Pittman said. “We’re out of scholarships at this day, but in January we’re going to put him on scholarship. I think he’s earned that and we’re awful happy to be able to do that. He was happy and excited and probably thought in his mind, it’s about time. But we were happy to give him a scholarship starting in January.”
