Auburn football dipped into the transfer portal Saturday and added former Ohio State wide receiver Caleb Burton III.

Burton, a former 4-star prospect in the Class of 2022, did not play his freshman season in Columbus deep in the depth chart of an insane Ohio State wide receiver room. The 5-11 speedster out of Austin, Texas will have 4 seasons of eligibility remaining at Auburn.

He announced his decision to transfer to The Plains via his personal Twitter account:

Burton could be an interesting target for whoever wins the starting QB battle between Michigan State transfer Payton Thorne and Robby Ashford, who took most of the snaps for the team last season.

Tar’Varish Dawson recently transferred out of Auburn and landed at Colorado. The Tigers also added a commitment from former Cincinnati WR Nick Mardner earlier in the year, who should be able to make a pretty strong impact for Hugh Freeze’s squad in his final year of eligibility.

Montana Lemonious-Craig, who shined during Colorado’s spring game before immediately entering the portal, has been rumored to transfer to Auburn as well. Nothing is official, but keep your eyes peeled, Auburn fans.
