Auburn will reportedly be missing one of its quarterbacks when the team travels to Starkville to take on Mississippi State on Saturday.

Multiple outlets are reporting that QB T.J. Finley did not make the trip to Mississippi State with the team on Friday. The QB missed several games this season battling a shoulder injury, but apparently, physical injury is not what is keeping Finley off the field. The QB’s absence on Saturday is being called a “mental health break,” per AL.com’s Tom Green.

The junior transfer from LSU started the first three games of the season before sustaining a shoulder injury in Week 4. A Grade 2 AC sprain in his right shoulder kept Finley off the field until Week 7 against Ole Miss. The QB played one series in the game, was sacked, and exited the field and did not return.

Finley has thrown for 431 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions this season, and has a 62.3% pass completion rate. QB Robby Ashford made his first start on Oct. 1 against LSU.
