Kerryon Johnson went down in the second quarter of Auburn’s season opener vs. Georgia Southern with an apparent injury to his right leg.

While running toward the end zone on a play that likely would have resulted in a touchdown, Johnson pulled up after gaining about 34 yards.

He made it off the field on his own power.

Johnson had already rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown on just 16 carries before the injury.

When he came off the field, Johnson was evidently not bending his right knee.

Johnson was Auburn’s reliable No. 2 back in 2016, rushing for 895 yards and 11 touchdowns behind starter Kamryn Pettway, who also did not play against Georgia Southern.

It was announced before the game that Pettway would be suspended for Week 1.

Saturday Down South will have more details on Johnson as they emerge.
