HOOVER, Ala. — Auburn will pay Will Muschamp top dollar over the next three seasons as its new defensive coordinator.

Muschamp will make $1.6 million annually as part of his guaranteed deal and have a $1 million buyout clause, according to contract details released by the university Wednesday.

The former Florida head coach, who was fired at the end of last season, will get $250,000 in salary, $675,000 for media rights and $675,000 for endorsement rights. Endorsement and media figures will increase by $50,000 on Jan. 1, 2016, and again the following year.
