Auburn specialist reportedly enters NCAA transfer portal
Auburn expects kicker Anders Carlson to be ready for the start of the 2022 season after he suffered an ACL injury late last season.
That means there’s not expected to be much work for other kickers on the Tigers’ roster this fall.
On Tuesday, it was reported that backup kicker Ben Patton, who handled the kicking duties in Carlson’s absence last season, was entering his name in the NCAA transfer portal:
#Auburn K Ben Patton has entered the transfer portal. The former walk-on made 5 of 6 FGs and went 8 for 8 on XPs during his four seasons w/ the Tigers.https://t.co/cC4L7hEuuw pic.twitter.com/BdwCkUCYFv

In Carlson’s place last year, Patton went 6-for-6 on extra points and 5-for-6 on field goals. Back in 2019, Patton made both of his extra-point tries.
Where he ends up next remains to be seen, but it appears Patton’s time on The Plains is coming to an end.
