With a picture of him throwing a jump pass against Alabama, Auburn has unveiled a Heisman Trophy campaign for running back Kerryon Johnson with a poster image that reads, “He is the man. Oh yeah, he can pass too.”

With a tweet Tuesday afternoon, Auburn began a Heisman push for Johnson, despite him dealing with a right shoulder that knocked him out of the Iron Bowl, and has left his status in doubt for Saturday’s SEC Championship Game against Georgia.

This week, Sports Illustrated’s Bruce Feldman updated his Heisman rankings as: Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield, Stanford RB Bryce Love, Johnson, Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor and tied for fifth were Louisville QB Lamar Jackson and San Diego State RB/KR Rashaad Penny.

Feldman wrote that Mayfield is still running away with the Heisman, but Johnson has made a late push in the lopsided race.

About Johnson, Feldman wrote, “He ran for 104 yards and a TD against Alabama and threw for another touchdown. It was his eighth 100-yard rushing performance of the season and fifth against an SEC team with a winning record. He gets another shot against a salty Georgia defense next week in the SEC title game.”

Johnson has rushed for 1,276 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, and leads the SEC with 127.6 yards per game despite missing games early in the season because of a hamstring injury. He has 187 yards receiving and two touchdowns, and Johnson threw for a touchdown during the Alabama win.
