There’s an old saying in football that a starting quarterback usually gets too much credit in wins and too much blame in losses.

Auburn’s Bo Nix is finding that out Saturday night, as he’s getting blasted on social media for his play in the Tigers’ 34-10 loss to No. 2 Georgia on Saturday.

Nix certainly made some mistakes. A costly fumble when No. 18 Auburn was on the move in the first quarter stands out, as do some poor throws and decisions that he made throughout the game.

But the 6-3, 214-pound junior didn’t get much help either. He was scrambling for his life throughout much of the game against the best defense in the country, and his receivers dropped a number of passes that might have made the outcome at least a little more interesting.

At the end of the day, Nix was 21-of-38 for 217 yards through the air. And in spite of all his scrambling in the game, he finished with minus-16 rushing yards.
